I’ve been modelling in rhino for years and now need to do some photo realistic renders of super high quality, but my rendering skills are good but not good enough to create the type of image I need.
I’ve got a engraved glass model which needs to be rendered and wondered if anyone could help me out and point me in the right direction.
I’m new to this forum sorry if I posted in the wrong place.

Hey sorry for the lateness of the reply was working at the weekend, its just a simple champagne glass but i cant get it to look good, but the reason being is that i just use GI for the reflections.
Lukeorford, there are different types of noise. Noise produced by the anti-aliasing, lights, etc. In this case the noise looks like big stain, so are Irradiance Map splotshiness. You can increase the HSph Subdivs. Other thing that can produce that king of stain is the HDRI. Try to use a blurry version on the GI Color.
Other point is that V-Ray throw less sampler in a dark image, so try to improve the illumination.
I use two rectangular light. One in the left side of the camera and one in the back right side of the glass. I can give you the scene, because I’m testing the new build of rhino and the scene is not compatible with old V-Ray. In order that you can see the scene I have to redo he scene from scratch. I’m so sorry, but I have no time today to redo the scene. If you want I can do that tomorrow.

1. Noise produced by the anti aliasing, lights etc - is this dependent on your scene setting? are there any rule of thumb when tweaking the AA parameters? I usually go with adaptive dmc.
2. the noise looks like a big stain. - when increasing the hsph subdivs, does this also increase render time?
again, a rule of thumb for these parameters? I watch your video regarding the irradiance map settings about the HSph subdivs and samples. But I’m still confused on the min and max rate in relation to the output or resolution of my render.. I usually go with 600x480 at IRmap -3,-1 and then at 800x600 IRmap is -3,-2 etc
