Is it possible to add this? I have found this to be really useful feature when building complex materials in Maxwell. There are many cases where each layer needs a slightly different bump to set their look, and then one overall bump for things like surface damage, dings, dents etc.
We will probably just bring in the VRayBumpMtl material that we have in Maya.

Vlado
I’m not familiar with it - how would it work, roughly speaking?
I found the Vray for Maya help file and see how it works. That would be totally workable.
Thanks! /b
It has a base material, and a bump slot. The specified bump map is then applied to the result of the base material. So you can add overall bump to any material, even custom ones.

Sounds great - particularly the part about considering the bump for shadows. If I understand that right it will add a really nice layer of realism to fine detail shots without having to use displacement.

So now Vray for Maya seems to have more feature then in max? And yes that would be really usefull.
bump material is awesome guys!
Is there any progress on adding the VRayBumpMat to 3dsmax? We could really use it for our current project…
Same, I need to test it out to see how it can improve my project.
