got a bit of a wierd one…a DVD that will be viewed both on computers and TV…the content has some very fine details which are causing headaches.
We’d normally use video or another soft filter which would help with the moire effects we’re seeing as well as a few other issues, but because the DVD is going to be letterbox (not anamorph) we’re a bit against the resolution which is about 300 pixels high. Softening filters are starting to look a little fluffy on screen (theyre fine on TV though)
Question is does anyone have any good filter ideas / AA settings to try…if you think about fine hair or fine circuitry as what the image consists of you’ll be on the right lines.
We’re running AA on 3/4 with random and multipass. Area filter on 1.5. Threshold is 0.01…its getting slow…anything less and we get flicker on the fine details and shadows…(its not GI it does it without it on).
Are we going to have to suffer a softer image to solve this one?
I have had the same problem and consulted the forum. Tryed to find the thred but without luck. I got the advice to put a constraind vertical blur in AF afterwards somewere between 0.6 and 1 If I´m right. It was OK.
use the usual way as u do rendering animation, then when its done there are a lot of quite developed sharpening filter for virtualdub, that can bring the details back without making the anim flicker.
