Grainy smoke issue - what is causing this?

Hi

I have used the Burnout example files by @Svetlin.Nikolov to create a burnout scene render. Link to original can be found on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0qVViGHc60

I simulated directly in the example file, then I just copied the result into my own scene, moved and resized it slightly for a quick test rendered in V-ray. Now I have an issue where the smoke looks very grainy compared to the original result. Do you have any idea what could be the reason for this? Is it a Vray setting or a Phoenix issue?

Hey,

Try reducing the Phoenix Light Cache Speedup. If reducing it down to 0 does not eliminate the voxel artifacts, disable the Phoenix Light Cache. Here’s more info on that: Chaos Docs

Cheers!

Thanks for the tip and quick reply Svetlin! I will try this! :-))

Just wanted to let you know reducing light cache speedup as you suggested solved the issue! Thanks again!

Yay, glad it helped! This setup is now a bit tweaked and uploaded here with the other example scenes: Chaos Docs
