I don’t know if it’s just an ugly design or I am doing a poor job illustrating it.
I would crop away some of the ground and give it a bit more sky. Also some warmth in the sunlight could help.
Are the trees requested by the client? If not maybe change them too… other than that I think the image is alright. The design on the other hand is by far the worst ive seen in a long time!! Looks like a movie-set with those fake facades.
I don’t think the blurred background is helping at all, and I agree with the tree comment; they look really weird.
It looks better but the people look out of place. The runner and the guy with the bicycle are in the middle of the road and hooker is in the middle on the block…the paparazzi who knows.
I agree. The hooker and camera man have to go. I try to invest invest in something each job. This job got new boulders from Parkviz. Maybe the next project I’ll get a few more people.
i’ve seen the boulders…you got it difficult with this one… the design is terrible.
I would put more people walking on street instead of the runner, she doesn’t look realistic. … how about darker asphalt ?
It’s getting better, but IMO
-All of the cars and people are not helping at all in this view. The people upstairs are quite distracting like cut off very dark heads, just weird.
-Grass on right needs material work (try using area in edge mode instead?)
-curb behind that grass is razor sharp
-road look like a lo-res Google map
-loose all of the strange trees, they look so odd
-detectable surfaces and sidewalk materials need improvement
-Is the view locked in by client? If not, consider stepping back a bit.
Sorry for all the things, it looks like a challenging design to work with
Keep up the good fight!
He insisted on the trees. I tried swapping them, but he wanted them back. I had the camera back a bit, but someone else on the forum suggested I bring it in; I am indifferent and slightly prefer this one. He wanted the people on the roof, but I agree, they look odd.
well, in the end, the client’s the one paying…so it’s on him, lol.
I feel ya, I just had a client demand the “raise the camera about 30-50 feet up.” Guess they really wanted to showcase the lovely EPDM.
I absolutely hate that request! it’s a very technical, almost CAD jockey, mistake.[quote=“ToniB, post:14, topic:47351, username:ToniB”]

However, the road is awful! I tried uvw unwrapping, but it was coming off low resolution. This one, worked in another scene, but fails here. Any tips for roads like this, or any road for that matters.
you could apply your textures for the road in different UV map channels…the asphalt in one scale to get the texture right and the dirt and lines in different channels.
Why is everyone hating on my trees
they only look as strange as the real ones do.
Bobby, looking a lot better in that last one, something about the grout lines being more defined gives it more life.
Thanks and thanks for the trees. I get lazy when it comes to creating custom materials. I just need to but the bullet and learn how to properly use the UVW Wrappers.[quote=“nizu, post:5, topic:47405, username:nizu”]

How are you setting up the asphalt material now? Is it all 1 big image or a blend to add the stripes?
The trees look like they should be hair for a Simpsons character.
