Just wondering how Corona uses the hardware(cpu, ram) in distributed rendering.
At the moment I have an i5 cpu with 8gb ram ddr3.
I’m building a new computer: Ryzen 1700x and 32GB ram ddr4.
Could I use the old pc as a render node with this specifications?
I could add 8gb of ram also if it’s going to work, I don’t think more money are worth spending on the old pc.
I will render small scenes, interiors mostly at the beginning.
I thought I will have a little boost of performance with those extra 4 cores from the i5 cpu.
Just the same way like opening a max file on that (slave) computer and render it, simple as that. I would add those 8GB to your old one at least - and grab 64GB for your new workstation so that you are able to do other tasks while (DR- or Backburner-) rendering in the background. Depending on the type of i5 you have, it may be disappointing how much it will contribute compared to the ryzen. But if I understand it correctly, it is your current workstation and you are used to that
