Can anyone suggest why the vray version does not show the lines in the paving, the mapping hasnt changed, just the renderer. it looks too blurry for my liking
I have a feeling it is the AA used but didnt think it would be this pronounced,
yeah it is the AA…for that extreme of an angle, you probably wanna use simple-two level w/ 2/5 and lower the threshhold to 0.06 …that should give you the lines back…
I am using the map ‘Sitework.Paving & Surfacing.Pavers.3.jpg’ (Max-ArchMat) (although my original post used a different map, the same issue applies) I think its the mapping and the image render size, I’ll have to go back to the Brazil version to see how it appeared ok in that version, i’ll keep plugging at it.
thanks,
Tom
you might also try lowering the blur on the bitmap as well as switching to a summed -area type of filter, instead of piramidal…lowring the treshold further in the AA simple-two-level can improve resolts but rendertimes will go up…try 0.04 or 0.035 …never needed them that low, but you also have an extreme angle.
hope you get it right…and as eric mentioned…a direct light will also prebing them out…or even raising the camera slightly if possible…
paul.
PS: if you’re using a bump map try turning up the bump channel to 300 or more…that usually emphasases grids like that as well…
