I’m having a problem with the Vray frame buffer recently. When I click on the History icon to view my saved history, Max doesn’t respond and I have to close it using task manager. This happens with any scene, even if it is empty. I didn’t change anything in Vray settings, so this happened randomly for 2 days now.

Might want to temporarily move your saved history images. Possibly one’s corrupt.

You can first try the Ashley’s solution because there can be some corrupted file data. If the issue continues, please create a dump file while Max is “unstable” using the task manager > right click over the 3dsmax process and Create dump file.
This could happen if there is some corrupt .vrimg file in the folder - if you manage to find out which one, can you send it to me at support@chaosgroup.com ? Invalid images should not lead to crashes. If you have a minidump file, as Tashko suggested, it would be good to send it over too.
