how can i illuminate larg scenes with vray

hi guy ,
i have a big project (bowling center )
i dont now how to illuminate it coz it too larg space and it took alot of time in the rendering testes ,
how can i put the lights onto the scene i want indoor lighting
this is the top view of the scene

and this is the lighting setting

and this is the test

can u help me in this concept plzz

i like to light large indoor scenes with self-illuminated objects at the ceiling, its faster than having a lot of lights.
you will loose some shadow detail, so you can use an extra light for foreground objects in order to lock them to the ground.

its a bit of a cheat but you can have one very large vray light half way between your floor and ceiling and have it at a very low level e.g 0.5 or lower then have your normal light as they would be… works great for me.

nice trick, natty.
i will try that one.

 glad to hear I’m not the only one using large VRaylights and self-illuminated objects..

example:

[self-illuminated objects only + 1 direct = very fast rendertimes! VRay rulez when using this method] 8)

wow, u should explain more bout ur method, bratwurst
which one is true, 1 vraylight or 1 direct light?

I use large self-illuminated boxes checking “invisible to cam” Simple but effective. Placing them is the tricky part, you dont want any collisions or extreme bright areas.

1 direct for the sun.

Cheers!

hi guys and thanx so much ur reblies
natty do u mean that i make one vray light that can cover all the space - i think it will be too big - what about the shadows and what about the maltiblier what about the over bright aries, pleas tell me in details
bratwurst very nice work , wow , tell me more about the self elluminated objects do u mean that i make the cieling self elluminated or - and what about shadows and the cieling ovber bright or u mean meake some objects let say boxes and give it a self illuminated mat - where i but them over the cieling or under the ciling , am sorry i have abig problem with this work
and thax very much

the second try

hi guys
this is the second try on this concept i made one very larg vray light and mak it with low multiblaier and this is the result

thanx iam waiting 4 ur advices

hi
do you like the result ?

I dont think it looks too bad. Its a good start to a good uniform lighting approach. Add some more direct lighting where its needed and I think itll come out nice.

try to play with gamma ( 1,5  1.8 ) for your general lightning

Vince

hi guys , thanx so much 4 trying help me
natty , i think the result not so good , what do u think about it ??
i show try with that percydaman and thanx
vince_1972 from where can i control with the gamma
hey natty what do u think about this try , i used the object lights as bratwurst talking about
and this is the test image , i think it is more usable but it need more tweaking coz i had over saturated areaies and when i put the cieling mesh it coused some pionts of over brieght , the quetion is how can i control with this boxes lighting ,
so sorry for my bad english

another try

hi
this is another try with box self illuminated
i used one larg box to cover all the scene , to go far away from brighten areaes on the cielng , and i make for defuse an output white color
and this is the result
but ADv. there is no over bright areaies , the scene has anice lighten
disadv. .. i lost the shadows , i had abad look for the cieling , some saturated areaies on the wooden graund
whats ur advice on this shit , :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

You need some more direct lighting to create some good shadows, which will help anchor those chairs to the floor.
