I’m still hammering away at trying to understand what I’m doing wrong here. But I occasionally, after importing fbx’s into my scene from Revit, will go back into Revit to make changes and then re-import the FBX into my scene. Now I’m seeing that I have multiple duplicate objects in my scene. How do I avoid this when re-importing?
And now, after multiple re-imports, I have multiple duplicate objects. I’m hoping there is an easy way to find the duplicates, determine which are the most recent, and delete the rest. Using 3ds max 2027.
By the way, if I’ve posted this in the wrong forum please let me know.
Thank You
For as long as i can remember one of the biggest annoyance with FBX importer for me is that it replaces an object with the same name in the scene and i am quite surprised to find that you have an opposite issue. I decided to dig it up and found that if you use Autodesk media and entertainment or user defined preset in FBX importer, it does replace objects with the same name, but if you switch to Autodesk architectural (Revit) preset, it makes a copy with the same name. So for you the solution might be simply to switch to the other preset. Sadly, that’s not solution for me, since Revit preset comes with zero exposed controls
Not directly a solution to your case, but have you tried Linking Revit file into Max?
When doing occasional changes to the model, Linking it into Max may be much better than exporting.
Of course the editability will not be the best in Max, unless converted to Editable Poly.
