I have imported a skinned character with collada into max8 32 bits.
Collada has written some custom attributes into the character object.
If i load the file in max9 64 bits, an error message comes up “missing dll.. collada…”.
The problem is that i cant network-render this file,
the farm is all 64 bits and there is no collada version for that.
So how can i get rid of the extra attributes?
If i save the charactermesh as a 3ds-file and import it the attributes are gone but i loose all rigging and skinning stuff.
yes Collada is a pain. We once almost ruined a project with that, because someone used collada and all his shots wouldn’t render on the farm :(.
I never touched it again since then. Same goes for FinalRender. Once a file is infected with it you can hardly get rid of it:(
If nothing else helps I always attach the objects to a box or something like that. But since your characters are already skinned, you can’t do that.
Not really a help but maybe point cache the animation and then dump all of the skinning and rigging modifiers so you can have a simplified render only version of the file?
