Hi, have been wondering how to achieve an effect similar to this hero-video:

First i was thinking about wireframes and lots of post work, but it looks more like some sort of point-cloud, but with some points highlighted.
Anybody got a pointer to lead me in the right direction? 
Probably post. For instance Trapcode particular for after effects or something similar should be able to create this more or less.
To me it’s all post. Wireframe base model plus a specific plugin called Plexus I believe, although there is another called Network. These are definitely both for AE but may be available for whatever you use also.
Mix them all together in a pixelly bowl et voila!
