How to use lens distortion

I need some help about the use of lens distortion. where can we get lens files for example.

One way is to generate .lens files is through the Lens Analysis Tool. which comes with any V-Ray installation.

But the generated file extension is .vrlens, and unfortunately, Vantage doesn’t recognize it.

Pardon, my V-Ray bias got ahead of me. Let me investigate.

Okay, it takes any maps, but UV maps work best (you could test with the example Distortion Textures here). Normal maps can be used too for creative effects.

It doesn’t matter.

I generated a map with ChatGPT, but the result looks like this—there seems to be an error.

Try this one taken from the docs link, I sent earlier.

Do you think this image is normal with this map?

I suppose so - the image seems distorted based on the map. Attaching the results from a new scene. Otherwise, Nuke can generate maps for lens distortion called ST maps, which are similar to UV maps.

Alright then, I couldn’t find the lens maps used in the launch. Would it be possible for you to share them here so we can test them? For example, a fisheye lens map.

I’ll try to find the map. Otherwise, in the future, we’ll add preset maps for common lens distortions.

Can’t you share the lenses used at the launch here?

We’ve updated the docs page. You can download the sample ST maps from there. Make sure you click the download button and get the .exr.

Yes these worked as I wanted thank you very much.
So will you increase the number of these maps in the future?

Yes, we will.

excellent thank you. very pleased that you are interested

Is there a specific lens type you are looking to emulate? Could you share examples of these?

Best regards,
Simeon

of course, I come across it from time to time, when I see it I can share it here

a lens distortion that I see very often in these studies
