Huge Render Time

Try Lightcache settings: “Number of passes” = 8

my e-mail is bob.parker@nor-son.com - I appreciate all you guys!

isn’t the bitmap pager’s job to optimize bitmaps?

okay, its like scheinbarreal said. if you load a new renderpreset (best with default values) your scene renders with all the available cores.

for your settings try what you can read in the other thread of jop:

"
So, Vray is “SOOOO FASSSSSTTT” (and not too grainy btw)… if :

- you work with Irradiance/Ligh cache
    - you check “store with irradiance map” for each VrayLight (finally you can increase subdiv)
    - you use Adaptive DMC sampler (value such as 1/3, 0,005 seems great to me for quality vs time)
    - you check “use light cache for glossy rays”
    - you Always “Treat glossy rays as GI” in your materials (and say goodbye to these white dots)

Feel free to add some ones.

I spent long time before finding these obvious little things, just wanted to share it for those who still don’t understand why
they read everywhere that “Vray is so fast”, and keep waiting 24 hours for a 320x240 render with 0,00000000001 threshold…

Cheers ! "

is there a script for this?

“- you Always “Treat glossy rays as GI” in your materials (and say goodbye to these white dots)”

This file is running much better, thanks guys. I still am finding some strange things. the point lights seem to have a mind of their own. I can turn the off, but they stay on. I can change the Kalvin or try dimming them, but nothing is effecting them at all. Am I missing something?

I did take the file off-line because it was downloaded 100’s of times so I can imagine I’ll be seeing it round the web soon

I know I grabbed it a couple of times in the hopes of helping out, but I got stuck with a fire drill and was unable to take a look. :frowning:

not a problem. all went well and I’ll post the image Monday. I figured out my light issue as well… I had 2 light sources at each light fixture.
