IES

Hi, I have noticed that it seems to be custom to place the light outside of the light fitting when working with ies. Surely this can’t be accurate?

Is this done to simplify things or what is the reason?

Thanks

im sure it has something to do with the fact that an omni is infinitely small. It doesn’t accurately represent a lightbulb…

Omni light

Thanks percydaman.

Since we on the subject, on what does one base your decision when deciding on the following,

The light color when working with a light using IES data and
When to use Target Point, Free Point, Target Linear and so on, basically will using the wrong option result in incorrect results even when using the IES data.

Thanks

honestly, Ive never used anything but omnis with IES files, but then again, I dont use IES files alot.
