I have a very basic but to me very important issue.
No matter if texture or image plane on a camera-as soon as i switch to the render setup layer the image plane is ignored in rendering
A very basic setup and it works in maya software and in arnold
what is the correct solution? Is this an error from vray?
I am attaching a very simple maya 2024 and vray v7.10.02 scene.
1 image plane with a texture grid and render setup layer (same true for image as imageplane)
ImagePlaneRenderSetupError.ma.zip (14.8 KB)
update: this is only happening when the camera shape is also inside the render setup layer.
But I need to make camera attribute overrides so i need the cameras shape in the layer.
well thanks, theoretically whis works. i tested this. if the camera used for render is not the same camera with the image plane it renders correctly.
but it would require a pipeline change. i am not looking for a one time fix but a setup thats streight forward without any manual input.
unfortunately thats unchecked. so it is not related to this option. i tested a few more things but as soon as my camera shape is added to the rendersetup vray ignores the image plane.
since it works fine in arnold and software i am pretty sure i stumbled upon a vray weirdness
nope, dont think so as it works correctly on the masterlayer.
it is easy to reproduce. create a camera, attach an image plane.works on master layer but as soon as you add the camera and the image plane to a render setup layer it renders black.
It seems to work if you manually add the image plane to the render layer: Be in the masterLayer > click on the Image Plane in the viewport > click on the renderLayer’s collection > Add > Check screenshot. You can use it as a workaround. I guess we should make this more intuitive.
hi Hermit, happy new year
I think the problem starts when adding an override to the camera shape itself. so image plane in transform collection + camera shape in shape collection
intersting, i will give it a try.
since we need to fill the collections based on expressions (automatic setup) it might not be a real solution. Not a huge problem though as i could simply override the render engine for that layer to use hw2.0
well, i simply can´t get it to work.
Attached two screenshots of my setup and my test scene.
It only works if there is no cam shape inside a collection.
Strangely enough it also doesnt work if that cam shape collection is disabled…
