I have a problem that has just arrived. When I set flat image it does not render correctly. I get a checked output.

Seem that you have overlapping surface. If you import and image as image file Sketchup created another surface to import the image. To resolve this issue you just have to separate ( just a little bit) the image surface from the other surface.
