Inbuilt Color Correction for LWF

It would be good to build into Vray materials, a correction similar to the old colorcorrect plugin so that we see the diffuse color correctly and have access to the full range of colors again, not just up to 128 shades.

I didn’t get the part with the 128 shades, but you can use a VRayColor texture map which allows you to input true floating-point color values. Maybe I can just add a gamma correction option defaulting to the 3dsmax gamma too.

Best regards,
Vlado

vlado,

That would be supurb if you could do that - it will really help us to represent colours correctly!

I second that. Now you’re onto something. That little “gamma correction” checkbox would appeal to everyone using LWF in their workflow. Up until now, I’ve been making small little bitmaps of my color swatches so atleast the color would behave predictably with the rest of the materials under MAX correction.

the 128 shades was due to the fact that to get a decent white color under lwf you need to set the swatch at about 128 128 128 which looks grey in the swatch but renders white. Has this been corrected for in max9, im not sure im still using max6.

basically i think what everyone was wanting was something to replace the color correctplugin as Im pretty sure it wont be updated in future

Thanx

vlado,

Is there any update on adding a gamma correction option in Vray?

It would be such a great way to make LWF that much easyier.

Thanks
