Hi All - I have placed a person from the Asset Library in front of a reflecting glass pane. So the glass pane should reflect the backside of this person - but it doesn´t. Only a strange contour of this person gets mirrored. - Has anybody an idea how to fix this?
Thanks for the explanation, which I can’t comprehend at all to be honest.
After all, my Asset person is IN the visible scene just like the furniture in your linked example is IN the visible scene as well. :?: X/
Unfortunately a strange softwareconcept again, which leads to both: frustration and, not unusable because not presentable renderings. I hope this bug will be fixed under Prio1, and all this right before any better hardware is available, because we all have already invested in good harware…
even if I only have waited 12 seconds for my render above, I have produced it for the trash can only - it is not presentable! Satisfied is only the one who has waited 30 seconds or 5 minutes maybe but can use his work later on …
You touched the Achilles heel, you can’t expect to get an image without artefacts in every case. A solution would be to get a full quality switch to render final still images, but so far I understand, this isn’t possible. I needed some months to understand it, but now I know, that Enscape isn’t the solution for every client and project. Some times it works and some times not. If it work, than it allow you to create impressive results you never would get per other tools in the same time frame. For me it means I can use Enscape very seldom only and I hope, once a day this issues will be fixed. On the other side, the speed increase of the offline renderer based on GPU is high too. It’s an exciting race.
@EGIESTO , we would, of course, resolve this behavior if it was a bug, but it’s intended and I’m sorry that this is a hindrance in your workflow.
Allow me to clear it up for better understanding:
Everything you see in Enscape itself, is in the so called screenspace. But, the back of this particular asset is not in the screenspace, since you don’t see it, so we just can not know what the back looks like so to say. We simply can not consider ALL the geometry in the scene for reflections, because theoretically this can be as much as desired with Enscape and then you’d run into major performance issues, even with high(er)-end graphics cards.
Therefore, we select particularly relevant geometry, roughly speaking, depending on size and polycount. Something like the human asset you’re using holds a relatively large number of polygons compared to a housewall for example. Therefore, the likelihood that such a person will be visible from behind in the reflections is significantly lower than said housewall.
I hope this clears things up a bit. I totally understand your perspective, but real-time reflections always involve finding a mix between performance and realistic output, and I can assure you that our developers will always be working hard to ensure that we’ll be moving forward.
can WE /users/ somehow decide what can be reflected and what not ?
i mean I want choose between performance and quality …
or can u do something simmilar to lumion “reflection plane” ?
a good comment Micha  and thanks Demian for the at least for me so understandable explanation
Well, most of us here are probably not hobbyists. even though out there is this hype about VR and online skills (I don’t want to knock those qualities down!), but all these aspects are at least secondary in the profession at least.
The Enscape concept - it is so promising and tasty too - loses if it is not able to fully serve the spectrum we need. No customer, no boss, is happy about this lack of quality, just because he is able to discover it with VR glasses or in any browser …
Or someone could say: if I anyway have to switch to V-Ray, Shaderlight etc etc to get what I need to deliver on monday, why should I waste time on a tool which is only able to deliver 30% of the total amount to be delivered?
So I agree also with Jan1  We should, no, we need to be able to decide between performance or quality ![]()
