In another thread some1 was having problems with this setting on it’s default of 0.0 and I recall, thate many times people suggesting increasing the reflection cutoff to 0.001
So, for both "Secondary rays bias" and also “Reflection cutoff”, wouldn’t it make more sense to just change the defaults to be 0.01 instead of 0?
How would this influense other things?
Thats strange, because the Reflection Cutoff is set to 0.01 for us - although more often than not we need to reduce it to 0.001.
As for Secondary Ray bias, it’s been a while since I’ve had to use it but if memory serves I did have some problems setting a value greater than 0.00 when using single sided materials - although this was a while ago, so might not be a problem anymore.
well i know from experience that turning the secondary ray bias too high can have very bad effects on your scene. i once turned it to 1 by accident and was completely confused when my shadows all started offsetting from the objects casting them by a large distance.
im assuming since this may well be scene scale dependent, if you are working on a very small scene, even very small values might screw everything up. i usually leave it at 0 on my own models, but will often turn it to 0.001 or so if im working with imported geometry, since it helps with double faces. ive never touched the reflection cutoff though.
