input fields 3ds design 2009 so slooooow

Hi there,

it is more a 3dstudio max issue, but here it goes …

I got the new 3ds max design 2009 and installed it on my new workstation and 2 other slaves.

After loading 3ds max and/or vray DR spawner performance goes down. not in the viewport, pan, zoom, rotate view etc are extremely fast. But the fill-in fields like the ones for dimensions of a box or sphere.

I also installed the 3ds service pack 1 with no result.

these problems occur when max is loaded, the slow fields then are also in all other applications, like ms explorer

Does someone experienced the same problems or has iedeas to wolve this ???

specs:
master workstation
shuttle XPC, dual core pentium, 4gb memory winxp sp3, geforce 8600GTS

slave1 workstation
shuttle XPC, dual core pentium,4gb memory winxp sp3, geforce 8600GTS

slave2 workstation
Dell precision, dual Xeon 3.2GHz/800MHz 2gb memory, NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400 256MB, win xp sp2

Do you get this only on the master machine, or on the slaves as well? Have you tried disabling the view cube/steering wheel?

After your message I disabled the viewcube, but i haven’t found a way to disable the steering wheel.

menu > views > viewcube >>>>
menu > views > steering wheels >>>>

It had not the desired effect

Thanks anyway, I will try to contact autodesk about this issue. I will post the workaround of this issue in this thread.

Strange that rotating, zooming and panning of the models goes great, but that the input fields are incredibly slow in all applications with cathing up my 2-finger-typing
