I’ve got an ipod im trying to model. the interior face edges (i.e. - surrounding the lcd) are smoothed. I can boolean it out but the rounded edges I cannot create. I know powersolids can do something of this nature but alas, my demo expired. does anyone have any simple suggestions on how to do something similar to this?
well- made my own workaround which was difficult. ended up using my cutting objects and scaling vertices up independently- meshsmoothing then perfomring boolean operations to cutaway. If anyone has any better suggestions or knows of any tools to optimize workflow in this regard, please let us know!
thanks rerender for the tip. apologies for my modeling newbie ignorance- by creating a spline from the edges you mean selecting the spline along the edge and detaching it or somehow cloning it? If I just select the spline without detaching the only options i get are extrude and chamfer which never quite works the way I intend it to around corners.
-ps. - is it just my imagination or is render theory a new category and how did this topic fall into this container? thought I posted to the off-topic category…
In edge mode of both EM’s and polys you can select a group of edges and use “create shape” to detatach a spline created by the selected edges, make sure to use “linear” , weld vertices if necessary.
