Invert bitmap when within a Bump Map slot in RT GPU

When a bitmap is placed in a bump slot the invert function seems to be ignored by RT GPU.
The invert function seems to work fine on bitmaps for other map slots I’ve tested.

Thanks,

Matt

Hi, you could try a VRayColor2Bump texture and put your bitmap in there.

Sure, there’s workarounds, just seems like something that it would be nice to work out the box, especially with legacy scenes.

Is it in max? I think that’s the way the bump channel in max works, for example it’s impossible to use curves on a bump map, it’ll adjust only the RGB channels, which is not what max uses for the bump information.

Yes, in Max. Invert works fine in the Vray production renderer, I guess you want a correlation between that and RT. (Color mapping doesn’t work, but invert does.)

I can confirm that, the RT CPU and GPU doesn’t respect the Invert option changes when the map is added to the Bump slot. I will check if this is limitation or we can implement it for future versions.

I think it does work in RT CPU, just not GPU…

Actually, yes.
On RT CPU it is working fine, we don’t fully support it only on GPU. I see a task in our system (RT GPU) about support for the bitmap Output rollout and I’m going to update it.

Thanks for your report.
