I have to make animation, 3000 frames. This means one PC has to render every 15 to 20 frames for light solution. Thats 150 - 200 renders of full GI.
If one PC is calculating light solution and it needs 20 min for each frame that’s 200 times 20 = 66 hours and thats too long for me to wait.
After that I still have to render everithing again on my 4 PC’s. It would be much faster if all my PC’s could render that 200 frames of light solution.
I think Final Render can do that. ( GI in DR ).
Does anyone knows would this option be available in future versions of Vray.
Thats the most important feature for me when I do animations using GI.
You can split the nth frame Imap process over all machines and then merge with the Imap viewer.

So there will be no flickering that everybody is talking about when you pass from area of first map to area of second map in animation?
hmmm, I haven’t actually done this yet but I know it can be done. Where did you read of flickering with this technique?

I thought that only one PC can calculate IR map and that IR map is not suposed to be calculated on many PCs. If this is posible than it would solve all my problems, I’ll try it next few days.
But one question, if only one PC can calculate IR map and it can be dual PC, so it means two procesors, why isnt it posible to calculate it on many computers. If two procesors can do it than the best solution is to have quad Opterons for this task or am I wrong maybe.

-every Nth frames: 25 if your camera movement are not to fast
range 0-100
net render: ok
render
in render output
don’t save file
choose computer 1
same think with computer 2
Auto save:ok ‘‘animation irmap02’’
range 100-200
and so on
when you have your three irmap
lauch imap viewer merge the three irmap
save ‘‘animation irmap 123’’
in max
vray parameters
in global switch render final image
Vray advanced irradiance map parameters
-choose from file : ‘‘animation irmap 123’’
in your common parameters
-every Nth frames: 1
range 0-300
net render: ok
