irradiance limitation?

Mostly I render files I created myself using a solid modeler, but this time I received a file that contains many open (filipped) surfaces. Rendering them with qmc +lightcache is no problem, but since it is a slower method than irradiance + lightcache, I want to render it using the faster method. But then this problem occurs:

as you can see, it seems that irradiance can’t deal with flipped faces. Is this a limitation of irradiance or a bug? the blue pipe in the middle is also a surface model but without flipped faces. Also on the inside of this model the problem is there.

I’m on max 7 / vray 1.47.12

Yes, this has been corrected already… if you wish, send me an email to vlado@chaosgroup.com for a fix.

Best regards,
Vlado

Thanks for the fast response, just p/m you.

Maybe we all can get the fix? Sure I have no idea what 1.47.12 is, let alone Max 7. I only got Viz 4 but this “fix” looky like I need it too.

Bahhh, I am just jealous…

Chicoone, it is is just dead simple :), if you run into a problem and there is a new build that fixes it, I am quite sure that you can get a build that fixes your problem. I am using the .12 release, because it had a fix for another problem I ran into (GI caustic splotches)

Thanks Gijs,

Sure, Vlado and the other guys are quite accomodating. Really, I could wait for the next release for all my current issues. That particular problem
and solution just seems like a very muchy good thingy!

Thank again,

Chicoone
