Is there anything to be gained from using the UHD animation prest for a still?

Would using the "animation (flicker free) preset lead to a better result than using the “still frame” preset quality-wise for a render?

Technically yes, but you would not see the difference. “Animation” increases some internal quality settings of the UHD Cache and basically you end up with more precise GI.
