Katzuo was an experiment in combining fundamental & simple character forms contrasted with highly detailed texture work. This fusion of opposite style aspects creates a unique image that instantly captures the gestural form of the character yet continues to attract the eye to different areas of the image in which new details are constantly making themselves visible.
This contrast follows through to subject matter as well featuring a relatively cute character yielding a fierce weapon against a morbid backdrop.
Once more, the contrast is also maintained within the color palette combining soft, pink and healthy skin tones against dark reds and weathered textures.
