Latest release and Bongo animation?

@konstantin_chaos The announcement stated that the rendering of Bongo animation should now be faster. I am very interested in this and please write a few details.

“The way Bongo keyframe animations are rendered is improved and optimised. The project is no longer reexported for every animation frame”

I have tested a last project and could not notice any difference. Although only the camera flies through an airplane interior, I could read “compiling geometry” and loading textures in the second frame. I would have expected this to be omitted.

Hello @Micha ,

With 7.10.00 we introduced a new way of handling Bongo Animations. They can now be rendered with V-Ray directly after setting Bongo as Animation Source in the Asset Editor > Animation section. This also enables rendering Bongo Animation in the Cloud. The optimization comes from not exporting the scene with every frame (this is the case when rendering with V-Ray from Bongo > Render Animation). The render process itself is not affected.
Note that some types of Animations like Bongo Named View Animations and Bongo Morphing Animations are not supported yet in the new handling.

Kind regards,
Iva

Ah, thank you @iva_mancheva I understand now.

I did a first test and it works great. I am very happy about the integration of Bongo.

I think two things could be improved. When the user presses “Get Animation Range”, the current active range could be set and not the whole timeline range.

The second thing is a great little feature of Bongo that I miss and was one of my big favorites of Bongo - overwriting existing files. If something is wrong with some frames, I could fix the scene, delete the wrong frames, uncheck that option and re-render the animation. Only the deleted frames were re-rendered. It’s a huge time saver to quickly fix small issues or restart a stopped animation.

Best regards,

If possible, the time segment “Frame Range” could better be called “Tick range”, as the Bongo Timeline does not display frames. The user uses _BongoRenderAnimation to define how many frames he wants to receive for the tick range of the animation.

I did a simple test and I’m very happy to see object motion blur. Also very nice effect for still renderings. Thank you for the great feature!!

I’m brand new to motion blur and I already have a wish? I would like to have the motion blur effect as a blur behind the movement. I found an example video for mental ray here. Would this also be possible with the V-Ray Bias option? If so, then it would be nice to have the advanced options available under Advanced Camera Parameters.
