I had this problem in the past, however, I don’t think that is was ever resolved. I received a MAX model; the previous person used V-Ray, and I am using MAX 2015 and V-Ray’s newest beta. It’s taking 3-4 minutes to cancel a render; it gets stuck at “Building light cache…” What is causing this? The only special thing I have is AutoGrass, which I don’t think is the issue.
4 minutes and 34 seconds, to be exact. Very frustrating.
it could be autograss… maybe it’s the old version for 2.5 … I reinstalled mine for an old project and it’s working well
use vray convert… I had some issues with "blend " material and lc
Wasn’t Autograss; it does it with Forest Pro, too. I built this new scene by scratch, so I know every material.
try with the new beta released today
I will, thanks!
No go! Still takes 5 minutes to cancel a rendering, which is rather frustrating.
It is, without a doubt, a displacement issue. If I globally turn displacement off the problem goes away.
Also, cancel is grayed out now, however, esc worked.
What are the displacement settings? Does it get better if you decrease them?
Is there a chance to send us simplified version of the scene for investigation?
Actually, I played with the displacement settings and the problem went away. I think that the displacement resolution did the trick.[quote=“RockinAkin, post:12, topic:49321, username:RockinAkin”]

Glad to hear you figured it out.
I use a script for my roof and the default displacement resolution is 3000. After I set it to 512, it starting acting much better, however, this was never the case prior to the beta.
It might be a good idea to investigate what’s going on, it may be a bug or something.
Bobby, Is the “static geometry” option on or off when it takes ages to cancel?
I tried both and it didn’t matter.
It will be best if you could send us scene to support@chaosgroup.com so we could investigate further. Just make sure to mention this thread in your e-mail.
