hi,
ive just installed vray on my laptop and waiting for the license.my question is can i then install it on my workstation and transfer the license so its installed on both machines or is the only way to have the license on one machine over the network.i would like to be able to use vray on either machine without having the other machine switched on? :?
Vray uses a floating license server so as long as both machine have
access to that over the network, then you can always shuffle usage
back and forth…
If you find yourself working with the laptop outdoors, you might as well
license the server in that machine and make sure to plug it back over the
network if you need to work on the workstation…
its not a physical transfer. its not even a transfer at all really. its just the liscence on one computer and the other computer goes and loks for the liscence on the other computer through ip address. so choose well which computer you want to register vray on.
thanks guys,
ive just installed it on the workstation and emailed the guys at chaos with a new code, hopefully they will understand.this is all new to me!!!
jow
you realise it means you cant take your laptop away from the office and be able to use vray. you will only be able to use vray when the laptop is hooked to the network. putting your liscence on the laptop would have been the ultimate floating liscence since it will be portable
good point ! although the lap top is for home use mostly so hooking up to the internet solves that problem (leave workstation on).
got license key today so sure u guys will be hearing a lot more from me!!!
