I am facing flickering problem on animation from the past few days(video attached) with Corona 11 and 3ds max 2024. i have checked the model mesh and lights as well, there is no double mesh or any issues on them. Are anyone facing similar issues or do anyone know the reason why this flickering is happening.
No distributed or network rendering used? If cache was used, it was set to Animation? Can try changing cache (to UHD if using 4K, or 4K if using UHD, or disabling cache). Can try disabling the Adaptive Light Solver.
The animation was done with network rendering but the problem is same if rendering on a single pc, i tried using the UHD cache and Path tracing both, but the problem is same.
Will try disabling the light solver and test.
We are also facing this flicker problem from previously last few projects and its constantly appear in every second night shot.
we have tried all the way to resolve this problem (Path tracing, Simple UHD, 4K Cache) but still we have flicker in our render, for now we have only one way to get flicker free render is to put omni or standard light instead of corona light and use 4K Cache for UHD but this method cost lots of render time.
Can you please attach a video so the flickering is better defined? Flickerings can be of many different types.
Please, if possible, also send the archive of the scene so we can have a look.
Does the flicker happen also when doing local (no DR) rendering?
Best solution is to get the scene and do our own tests to find the root cause.
A best practice for minimizing the flickering caused by secondary cache is using precomputated cache, with “Load from file” or “Try to load + append” with “Save to file” option for after rendering.
Curious, did you find the culprit?
We have been encounter some flickering similar on a recent project… have done many animations before and aware of most flickering causes (coplanar, different computers issues, splotches from bad GI, missing textures, etc) but this has not rhyme or reason… the one thing I’m suspecting is that is the first time we are using forest pro to scatter many light sources on the scene… Curious to know if you were also using forest for some of your lights.
in case people still have issues with this and find thread via google as i did: in my case (after many hours of testing and frustration), the issue was the imported lamps (from revit via .fbx export).
They consist of a multi material with stainless steel + a surface with corona light material on it. At some camera angles the light hitting objects (especially reflective surfaces) would be very splotchy, noisy and flickering. In other frames look fine.
Finally found out that, if I add a “smoothing” modifier and tick both boxes (“auto smooth” and “prevent indirect blahblah”) too all the lamp meshes it would produce clean results. Such a pain and wasted a lot of money on cloud render (wasn’t really noticeable on our pr X frame test through out the animation, but clear flickering when all frames were rendered out). Will have to all 6000 frames now, but glad I finally found the issue
In general all the fbx meshes from revit seems to need a smooth modifier or “auto smooth” all surfaces in editable mesh. Converting to edit poly can mess with round objects - sadly as I like poly tools much better for edits.
I was making the making off of this project and i wonder if video flicker is still something hard to deal with for the majority of artist out there.
Is something you would pay 10 dlls for an ultra simple fix that cuts render times and hassle ? or is it solved..
here is a before and after for it.
Please check PM, in need of this asap today as I’m having major issues with bad frames on the render farm we used (it renders fine locally and our own farm) and my deadline is monday!
