Light Cache issues

Hello,

I am using DMC for sampling and IM + LC for lights… This may be an obvious question but I thought by using the LC, the LC was actually saved and therefore for renders it didn’t have to be recalculated… The file existed light_cache
I m working on an environment and every change I make which requires a render, the LC has to rebuild plus 4 pre passes and then final render… This takes a lot of time? Is this process correct?

I really thought once it was calculated that step would not have to repeated as the info was saved and then pulled from a file?

This process happens even if I re-render the exact same camera shot?

If I’m doing something wrong please let me know or if there are any suggestions I’d appreciate it.

Cheers

You need to explicitly save the light cache, and then switch the light cache mode to “from file”, and set the proper file name.

Vlado

Ok. thanks,

is it normal that even when you do that, when you render it still says “building light cache”?

I’m not sure, I have to check; it should print out that the light cache has been loaded from the file though.
