light cache test

Ive never really used it much although i know i should. so i decided to just do this test. no color mapping, no vray lights in the windows. just 1 direct light and environment light.

render time 15 minutes and a dual amd2600+ with 512mb ram
guess you guys might recognise the material on the base of the table hehehe. love that displacement map

LOL nice table Elf, the lighting looks pretty good for just a direct light and GI.

-dave

where did you get that displacementmap? it looks awsome!

lighting is also good… whenever Ive tried to light an interior with only skylight and direct light it has always come out too dark… dont know why

Nice one. Render time is great. What does it mean “no color mapping”?

Ismael

means my color mapping settings are 1 and 1

oh. and i forget who 1st made that displacement map. but when it 1st came out there were tonnes of posts. check around in the image section and you should find it

That was me

Works pretty well under that table and with lightmap. Nice test!

skogskalle, look for reed chairs in the forum, I am sure you will find it.

thanks guys! ill look for it…

nice test, what are the settings on your light and environment?

i think the direct light had a multiplier of 2 and the the environment light had a multiplier of 5

Yeah, I just finished a commercial that was lit entirely with one direct and environment color only. Works great. Light cache is a amazing thing if you ask me. It’s the closest thing you can get to a physically based renderer without being biased. I love it. Eat your heart out Maxwell.
