I have a simpel scene with three spots in it. All my attempts to render faild. I have increased multiplier to 500000 and still it?s black.
If I try with a directional light it?s fine.
Scale is mm and the spots are approximatly 2000 mm away from the objekts.
What am I doing wrong?
light problem
… maybe the intensity is to low, I would try more.
Re: light problem
if you can, post the scene or parts of it, so that we can take a look…

light problem
The ontl thing i find for adjustment in the intensity panel is the multiplier and I have increesed it to 500000 whitch i thought was much. Do you mean i shall increese it further?
I give it a try :?
light problem
ok, here is what i did:
I changed the units to cm and suddendly it was light in there. But my multiplier is still very high. Doesn?t seem right.
Is it possibel that I do a generall misstake? What kind of light sources do you use? I tok a simple rhino spotlight. Does that work?
The lightnig is far from good. I?ve tried severell adjustmend like spot hardness, but the light wount be good. Is it necessery to build a diffusor or a lens?
light problem
… best you show an example.
light problem
I think, if are in decay mode “inverse square”, so the multiplier is ok. Or what do you think is wrong?
light problem
to make it short, is a multiplier between 100000 and 500000 normal? And if so why does it stand on 50 when i create light?
light problem
I got it. It works if I set the options/decay on linear. It can be so easy.
light problem
Very high multipliers are normal right now for inverse square falloff for the SpotLight and Point light. Eventually we would like to implement a power multiplier ( Watts or something) that would decrease this issue. But we simply don’t have the time to implement it for VRay for Rhino 1.0.
Setting the falloff type to linear is one way to handle it, however, for realistic lighting, inverse square falloff would be the best choice.

thanks for the tip joeb. Feels god having a developer who is answering and helping  (sorry I?m maxwell damaged)
I was already wondering why my test renderings have become the poor. So there is a big diffrent according to witch light “typ” I use…
I will test that.
thanks a lot!
