Light select Renderelement

Hi I try to recreate my picture with all my added LightSelect Renderelements to the same result Vray is giving me with its RGB output. What I did is I connect all the different lights to its LightSelect Renderlement. I have no environment override or anything, so only my lightsetup is lightning the scene. But if I compose all the lightlayers with an add operator, the result is not the same as the RGB result from Vray. Even if I play with the composed layer opacity I can´t get the RGB result from Vray. :frowning:

Any idea?

Are you using GI in your scene? The LightSelect Render Element doesn’t (yet) include a light’s GI contribution unless you’re using the experimental Bi-directional Path Tracer.

Interessting and very bad :frowning: What is this Bi directional thing?

It’s another algorithm which traces rays from the lights as well (not just the camera). It’s mostly useful with interior projects.
Also things like caustics and multiple light bounces clear up much faster.

Yes, Lightselect is the combined lighting and specular contributions of the light(s) only.

Is it possible with Vray 3 ? Maybe in rt or standard?

Cause I need lightselect re with gi.

You could always render it separately, once with the lightselect light(s) and once without. Then add in comp. Of course with many lightselects that’s not very practical.

No u cant get Light select with GI as far as I know. I think you can do it with GPU tho but not sure…

Whats that new program that handles all this sort of stuff?
I saw a demonstration video in some fancy expensive interior scene with a big bed???

COLIMO? Motiva COLIMO 1.7! with native Vray 2.40 support.
The only “problem” with that program. For every light/Texture you want to change it needs to do a separate render. You have 3 lights you want to have control over Colimo will render your image 3 times. You also want to have control over 3 objects it will render your image 6 times.

I will check if it is working when I convert the single lightlayers into exposed grayscale mask and use them with the gi layer. group them with a added single light layer and add each group together.

thank you, this is it!!!

Vray…
bla bla bla bla bla

You could also put a grey shader on everything, and create renders with 3 lights at a time switched on, one Red, one Green and one Blue, do this for all your lights and then you can split your RGB render to channels and get 3 masks at a time with GI.
