Linking Revit and Sketchup

I have a sketchup model(masterplan of univerisity campus) it renders great in Enscape. And I have a building model that is in revit that renders excellent in enscape. However If I link the sketchup into revit it loses all its material in enscape. so it would be great if I could link inside of enscape. Any thoughts?

This would be a great feature indeed.

@sdbrownaia @TowerPower This would cause a complete change of the product design of Enscape.

We wouldn’t be a well integrated real-time plugin with real instant feedback to your model any longer.

I don’t think this is an Enscape issue though, it’s more of a interoperability issue between Revit and Sketchup.

Hmm, perhaps there’s a way you could save the whole model as a proxy object that could then be loaded into the other model, similar to how proxies work in sketchup currently?

I would suggest it to be realtime for the product that launched it, then the linked model (sketchup in my case) would import in the background and be fixed until it was edited and reloaded in revit. I don’t expect you to have a simultaneous live link to two softwares(although that would be cool).

Thanks for your suggestions. We will discuss this topic.

That would be very powerful.

It would offer us a way to leverage the sketchup warehouse inside Revit without effecting Revit model performance!

As an extra bonus, we could do limited studies in Sketchup (for example: design the workstations in Sketchup) and then show them inside the context of our Bim model for renderings.
