It is a tough market, but there is still good work to be found. I think most freelenacers are busy, but most are solo and don’t hire. I would try to make some real personal connections with larger companies. I mean, walk in and start shaking hands. I personally get dozens of people looking for work every week, and it’s just noise at this point. The world has gotten smaller, so there are millions of folks trying to sell their rendering services, but they don’t have the skill to make it. This saturated the market for skilled people competing online, which is why personal connections are important.

I used to see this cool building on the way to the mall. I never knew what it was, so I searched, and they are developers. I had a hunch to email, and nothing. I then sent a flyer, and nothing. On one trip to the mall, I stopped in, introduced myself, and was dragged into a meeting, only to walk out with a $10,000 project. Seriously, drop off donuts every month for a year if you have to.

You know those ‘no solicitation’ signs? This was from people selling door-to-door. This is what emails and DM have become. We have gone full circle, and if you want to sell your service, you have to go door-to-door.

Emailes use to work, until they didn’t. Flyers used to work, until China send milions to every company on the planet, and now they are dead. Door to door, my friend.
