lunch inspiration

Something I did for fun. Trying to learn vray 2 sided material

don’t you hate it when the power goes out and you drop the flashlight in your lunch bag?..i sure do
thats pretty cool wayne. the materials look right on. how did u go about modeling/mapping the sub wrapper?
good stuff…

It was a royal pain. Started out with a plane, added a bend to get it rolled diagonally. Then I flattened the ends by using vertex soft selection and scale down the z axis. Then bent each end 180 moving and scaling the gizmo. Isn’t very nice but I have it rotated and positioned so you can’t see the scragely details. Also added noise to rough it up a little. (same with the paper bag and pretzels) Only reason to model this way really was for mapping, could easily distort a primative and get a good shape but texturing would be a nightmare, here I mapped the plane before ever bending it. BTW your beer looks better than my lunch!

Daylight version

why not make it a proper scene, and put the rolls gold bag on its side, like it is sitting naturally. …also, water beads on teh cup.

The night render looks pretty good. The day one looks flat. I’d tone down that cups reflection and enlarge the width of the straw.

Thanks. I refined the shadows so it’s not quite so flat. Also improved the cup material and straw. Now I need to go back to doing real work
