I’m not able to install any of the latest ARM nightlies on MacOS.
At the same time, the Mac Intel nightlies are installable.
For comparison, the Arm nightlies from August are installable, so I assume something has changed in the build process?
What I see:
After going through the traditional shenanigans with app downloaded from the Internet, I give it permission, and get this:
So far, Ok.
But after pressing Open nothing happens, Vray Installer does not launch.
To complicate matters, I’ve upgraded to Sonoma, hoping that the Ventura bugs will get fixed, haha.
But, as I’ve mentioned, Intel installer runs allright, only the Arm installer does not work.
Overall I wonder what’s going on with Arm support,
my previous comment does not seem to have been resolved: forum link
One last thing, I know most people here are on Intel, but in fact M1/M2 Pro is pretty decent processor, Vray renders amazingly fast on it compared to Intel. So it deserves more love (and I say this as a windows person).
@vla_dunev When you get a security pop-up like this press open. Then you will need to go into system settings and go to “privacy & security”, scroll down and you usually see something like “Open anyway”. This is because the installation wasn’t verified/signed by Apple’s servers.
You’re right @daviddeacon , and that’s exactly how it works with everything except the latest Arm builds.
As I’ve explained above (and atached image of the dialog you get after going to “privacy & security”),
with the latest Arm builds V-Ray installer does not launch after I press Open. The Intel build, on the other hand, does exactly what you say.
@daviddeacon ,
unrelated question, but related to Vray stability - do you have IPR crashes on slightly more complex scenes?
What I see is IPR starting OK, and then once I try to change anything - color, move on object, change parameter - the BeachBallOfDeath appears and the only thing I can do is force-close Houdini.
