Many bugs and crashes in Vray 7.1x

This Vray version 7.1x is causing lots of issues.

  1. The main one I have an issue with is how much CPU NeUI | Vray for Revit uses after Revit is closed. Unless I forced close all NeUI for Revit processes, it always eats up at least 50% of CPU. I see no reason why those processes are still running at that capacity after Revit and Vray has shutdown. If I don’t force close, it will stay running. This happens in every session Vray was utilized.

  1. Syncing with Vray turned on causes Revit process to “Not respond” for minutes after sync has finished.
  2. IES light profiles rotated for light families
  3. Revit wants to crash often when Vray is enabled and working with modeling and rendering elements
  4. Revit crashes after Revit is closed
  5. Vrscene substitution doesn’t seem to work in some cases. Mapping is correct, no object rendered or rendered black. When rendering again in a different rendering session, all materials display correctly.
  6. Scattered grass disappears after syncing. Need to reapply to objects
  7. When plantings are set to randomize, the randomness is different Revit session so image editing in post process or lasso based renderings are a bit difficult because the leaves and size of plantings changes in each different Revit session renderings. Keep instance radom seed per planting instance, or have an option for it.

Hello cmathew,

Thank you for taking the time to outline all of these issues in detail. I’ll address each point below and explain how we can move forward together:

  1. NeUI | V-Ray for Revit processes in the Task Manager
We’re aware of this behavior and have already logged it internally (WEBUI-7402). The team is actively working on it, but unfortunately, we’re not able to share a specific timeframe for a fix yet.
  2. Freeze after sync
We have a ticket logged for a freeze that can occur after syncing complex workshared cloud models (REVIT-4329). Could you please confirm whether your project fits this description (e.g., cloud-hosted central model)?
  3. IES light rotated
Could you share a screenshot of the rotated IES profiles you’re seeing? This will help us confirm whether it matches a known issue or something new.
  4. Crashes during modeling/rendering
In order to investigate properly, please open a support ticket and attach your V-Ray for Revit logs and Revit journal files from after a crash occurs. This will give our developers the best chance to reproduce and fix the problem.
  5. Crashes after Revit is closed
This is a known issue and our team is looking into it.
  6. Vrscene substitution and other rendering issues
Please include a screenshot (or short video) of the problem when opening your ticket so we can reproduce exactly what you’re seeing.
    Scattered grass disappears after syncing
We tested this with a simple scene and couldn’t reproduce the issue. If you’re still seeing it, please include your project file (with all assets) in your ticket so we can test with your exact setup.
  7. Random distribution of plantings
We haven’t been able to reproduce the randomization inconsistency on our end. Again, a sample scene plus screenshots or videos would be very helpful.

For the issues we couldn’t reproduce locally, the best way to move forward is for you to open a support ticket and attach:

  • Screenshots or videos showing the problems
  • The scene itself, with all its assets
  • Information on where your central model is stored (shared drive or cloud)

This will give us enough context to replicate and resolve the issues.

Thank you.

The issue WEBUI-7402 has been fixed in V-Ray 7 for Revit, update 2.1.

Yes cloud model are the ones with crashes and long load times. Many commands cause Revit to become unresponsive for 30 mins to over an hour. Undo command, Clicking appearance manager, syncing…please prioritize the fix
