it would be quite convenient if materials could be grouped in folders, so I can make a plastics folder, woods folder, glass folder etc…

Could you clarify more what you mean by this? The materials we ship with VfR are grouped as such.

I mean inside the rendering material library dialog, if you have many materials in your scene, it would be nice to be able to group them
