Materials Library Browser freezes 3d Max

V-Ray V-Ray for 3ds Max Issues

Hi,
Since yesterday 3d max crashes/freezes every time I am trying to open the Vray Materials Library browser. It happens in both my laptop and desktop so I suspect is a general issue? Anyone has the same problem? Any thoughts?

Hi, thanks for posting. Is this issue happening in every scene even a new empty one? What versions of 3ds Max and V-Ray are you using?

Thank you for coming back to me. Yes it happens in every scene, even in a new /empty ones. I use 3d max 2023 with vray 5. Since this incident I run the latest available updates for both (max 2023 & Vray 5) but unfortunately it is still doing it.

Hi, I have a similar issue going with every version of vray 6. I had to go back to vray 5 (that works fine).
As soon as I try to open the material editor, it crashes, both with an empty scene and a scene I’m supposed to render.
Is there anything I can do to avoid that ?

Can you attach a crash dump from when that happens ? (Should be located in your temp folder and called 3dsmax_minidump.dmp).

I had to compress it… It was more than 2Mb

Thanks for the provided crash dump.
You should clear crack files from previous versions.​
