10? I haven’t even installed 9 yet. It’s lying around here somewhere.
The frequency of update is insane ;( Not to mention the price !
The upgrade to max9 was a major hurdle since we wanted to switch over to 64-bit… waited for all the plugins we had to have were available. Crazy to think that we’re only a quarter away from the next release.
That being said, there’s no point cracking open the box until the second service pack has been released come Jan/Feb.
Is there anything about max 9 that people are crazy about? Been using it for a week now without incident, but no “wows” either.

Well I’m going to risk my status as a beta tester. By far the biggest change is going to be the splash screen displayed as Max loads. Where it currently displays a “9” this is going to be changed to a “10”. I have to admit I was worried about how this would affect my workflow (LWF etc.)but I shouldn’t have as they’ve kept most of the bugs in 9 and indeed some of the bugs going back to 2.5.
The box is going to be a different colour as well! (Maybe)

Agreed - no wows at all
Just moved from 7.5 to 9, you know that sound you get then you let air out of a ballon, that is pretty much my feeling. I have been gradually disillusioned with all the update stuff, maybe I’m just getting old 
But is seems as tough the major problems go unchanged, from generation to generation, more stuff is added but at the end of the day, it is still the same old bugs.

Hmm, the subscription for my personal license is about to run out. If you were me and rarely use it to make any money, would it be worth the subscripion $ to get Max 10? Hopefully those in the know would have an opinion, I need to send my check this month if I want to keep the subscription.

im pretty sure it was tongue in cheek, but anyways, what are you using nowadays to make money if you aint using max?
one would assume he uses the licence his work provides him to rake in the dough, and not his personal licence which is what he was refering too

rumors confirmed to some degree:
- huge (10* in specific operations) speedincrease due core optimizations
- Nvidia CUDA mentalray accelaration (!)
if this is true we can use nvidia graphic cards to speed up mental ray rendering.
i fear this will make it much faster then vray.
