Many of our scenes render only using ~50% of the CPU capacity with 8 cores. I believe this is caused by the new bitmap handling. Using iBitmapPager.enabled = false doesn’t make any difference.
Using only gray material without any textures render just fine with 100% but textures kill the performance right away.
Would be best to contact Autodesk for more information. They are aware of the issue and looking for a fix, but I do not know when this will be available. I’m not aware of any fix for this at present - the issue seems to affect all renderers in 3ds Max that use its native bitmap handling.
The conclusion was that it is just a Max 2010 bug…or could it be the Hyper Threading? It doesn’t seem any attempt was made to see if disabling the HT helped.
I dont get it. prior versions of max worked find with bitmaps and threads and so on. So why try to fix something thats not broken? howcome all these problems all of a sudden?
