Max not creating new objects

Anyone had this, Max (9) not willing/able to create any new objects, camera, spline, mesh or otherwise, I have never seen this before in over 10 years use? File seems OK when I merge all into a new file?

maybe you try to create the objects on a hidden layer?

or you have geometry turned off in the visibility rollout. Probably worth reinstalling max…

Also check to see if the default controller has changed, with the wrong one objects can be created at 0,0,0 no matter where you are clicking.
