When I open 3ds Max 2026 or 2027, I can open the Render Setup (F10) as usual. However, if I run the Vantage Live Link and try to do the same, 3ds Max crashes instantly, even with an empty scene.
I tested this on another PC, and everything works perfectly there.
On the problematic PC, everything used to work normally. However, I recently had to clean install Windows 10 because Vantage kept resetting my camera configuration whenever I tried to render an animation… I even reset the motherboard to its default settings, but nothing worked.
I hope someone can help me figure out what the problem is, or if it might be an issue with the Vantage installer.
Do you have any embedded video card on the motherboard and is it maybe an AMD one ?
We’ve been getting reports for crashes related to our code to display the available AMD GPUs.
If you do have an embedded AMD GPU - can you try to disable it and see if the crashes persist ?
Yes, I tried it, but the problem persisted. The other computer also has an integrated AMD, and I didn’t have that problem. Now, what’s strange is that I reinstalled Win 11, downloaded everything again, and now it’s working correctly… very strange.
It’s worth mentioning that yesterday afternoon, when downloading the V-Ray installers, I had some download errors, and Vantage initially didn’t show up in my list of products.
Anyway**,** I consider my problem solved. I guess that with the Vantage update, it no longer resets the camera settings for animations in Windows 11, which was the reason I went back to Windows 10 in the first place.
Thanks for taking the time to respond and help me find the problem.
Is this the same crash in 3ds Max as the original post, or a different crash in Vantage? Does it crash with live link only or with a standalone session with vrscene file? You said “on render” - does it only crash on final high resolution renders? Maybe the memory is running out if so.
