Does anyone know of a way (script,plugin etc) any way at all of getting a scene with vray from max6 to max5 it seems the mental ray plugins and ctrl.dlc cause max5 to crash.

The only chance you have (i think) is Bobo’s BFF script http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo/darkmoon/ I believe it had support for vray mats but I don’t know if it will work with 6.

Thanks but the script in question goes backwards from 5 to 3 not from ver 6

The script does work with Max 6. It also supports VRAY mats to the best of my knowledge. It does not support the export of VRAY rendering settings. You could use vray’s presets or VRAY preset manager by Marc Lorenz http://plugins.angstraum.at/ to store the setting if they are very particular.
