Hi guys,
I was checking out some MR scenes that shipped with Max6. Here is one that I converted to VRay just to see if I can match the MR rendering. 1st image is MR (18min 51secs on athlon 1900xp, 1gig ddr pc2100). The 2nd is my VRay attempt.
Only one Vray light at window opening (skylight portal / store with IR map). Environment multiplier is 4.0 & HSV Expotential: bright 1.0, dark 6.0.
Am I getting blotches to right of the floor and lamp shade? What can I do to more closely match the MR render?
Here is the scene (ZIP) for you all to play around with. Max6 required.
updated the vray render and scene - I added plane above ceiling to stop light from above
Did you change some render settings or material settings? IF so which ones. I’m interested to know how to lower render times as well. I’m uploading the latest scene into the zip file above.
My system is AthlonXP 1900+, 1024MB PC2100 (2-512 Crucial dimms), WinXP sp1.
The MR scene really looks strange and unreal. The light don’t seam to have an exposer. The shadows are to strong and the floor looks ugly.
Anyhow it is clean.
Your Vray conversion seams to be more real, that is the main problem. The floor has got some strange color. But the GI is much better.
I have come from Microstation and they had were using the scene to test it compared to Microstation. After converting the model back to Max (don’t have 6 yet) I rendered this with VRay. I have only been using VRay for two weeks but it great how easy it is to produce great lighting solutions. These are a bit dramatic but a great test case.
