Whats the correct way to measure the reflection and transmission of a material for ex glass / mirror?
Lets say that you have a mirror (plane sheet of glass with mirror coat on backside)
-The reflection is dependant of the color of the reflection slot and the fresnel ior.
-When changing the property of refraction the reflection either goes up or down
What would be the correct way to change the material properties of the mirror coat to lets say 70% of reflectivity and 30 % of transmission. How can you measure and know that the setup is correct?
In the real world, reflectivity can be measured at several different angles of the surface (i.e directly above, 30 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees), or as an integral over the entire hemisphere (i.e. X percent of all light from all directions is reflected). Which one do you want to achieve specifically?
For mirror coating (12> infinity) I would say that the angle of the surface wont matter so much.
The client in this case just provided us with the information of 70% reflectivity and 30 % transmission of the mirror coat (on the backside of the glass). Im just very interested how we can make this as accurate as possible in vray.
