Missing exr tiles freeze

Hi there,

I have a plant library that I’ve been using for years. I’ve never had an issue until upgrading to 2014 and a nightly build. Now whenever I render I get a missing tile error message for EXR files and V-Ray just goes 100% cpu forever. Reverting back to 2013 Maya and any build of V-Ray and the problem doesn’t exist.

Hi,

Is there any chance some of the meshes in the library to have some exr textures applied or something of the sort? If possible, can you send us say one mesh of this library so we can see this in our environment? Can’t seem to get the same error here.

It’s strange, I tested on a new proxy with the same files but there is no error either. But it happens to me all the time with a particular file.

I can’t upload because it is 15mb, but I will send you a PM yolov, with the dropbox download link to the files.

Thanks. I already took a look at it. There actually is a problem with this and I’ll let you know what we’ve figured out about it.

So this should be fixed for the next nightly builds tomorrow. The rendering will not hang anymore in any case, but you might want to regenerate the tiled OpenEXR files with img2tiled_exr.

I originally created these exrs with img2tiled_exr, however I don’t have the source jpg files anymore, is it safe to redo the corrupt exrs with img2tiled_exr again? Will it repair?

We’re working on a fix for the tool, which will fix your files. We’ll let you know when this is done. For the moment, we’ve fixed V-Ray so it won’t crash when a tile is missing and this should already be in the nightly builds.
